Urban Forestry Overview
The urban forester for the City of Georgetown provides urban forestry planning, training and technical assistance to City of Georgetown, develops and provides educational programs on tree maintenance, health and selection to raise awareness of importance to preserve urban forest resources, and serves as staff liaison to Planning and Development Services to ensure new development is in compliance with City tree ordinance and landscaping requirements.
Additional duties include:
- Responsible for creating an inventory of Park property trees
- Assist with development of ten-year management plan and establishing a City tree farm
- Tree maintenance
