Recreation Center closed Aug. 28-Sept. 4 for preventative maintenance

The Recreation Center will be closed Aug. 28-Sept. 4, 2023 to complete annual preventative maintenance and upgrades to the facility.

The Village and Williams Drive pools will be open daily Aug. 28-Sept. 1 for Recreation Center members to swim during the following times:

  • 5:30 to 9 a.m.: Williams Drive Pool, 3201 Williams Dr.
  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Village Pool, 370 Village Commons Blvd.

Recreation Center staff will be onsite to answer phones from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28-Friday, Sept. 1.

The following items will be of focus during this year’s closure:

  • Indoor pool HVAC repair
  • Deep cleaning
  • Facility flooring and paint updates
  • Deep cleaning of weight room equipment
  • Administrative tasks and organization
  • Staff training/team building

  • Deep cleaned weight room

  • Demoed floor in Teen/Senior side

Tuesday, Aug. 29
  • Locker room cleaning
  • Second coating on wood floors in Gym 1, Aerobics Room and Racquetball courts
  • Old vinyl demo completed and new vinyl flooring install
  • High dusting
  • Power washing of bleachers
  • Cleaning outdoor pool furniture
  • Painting began in Gym 2
  • Staff parks tour

Wednesday, Aug. 30
  • More vinyl tile installation
  • Teen Courtyard basketball court lines repainted
  • Kids’ Club Cleaning and organizing
  • Cleaning of indoor pool surfaces and tile
  • Deep cleaning of showers in locker rooms

Thursday, Aug. 31
  • Emergency Action Procedures Training
  • Active Shooter Training with GPD
  • More high dusting
  • Cleaning out Aquatics areas
  • Cleaning indoor pool deck
  • Continued install/finishing of vinyl flooring on Teen/Senior side
  • Pickleball lines added to outdoor courtyard (1 court)
  • Painting in Gym #2 finished and clean up began
Friday, Sept. 1
  • Dusting of Basketball Goal Structures in both Gym #1 and #2
  • Cleaning of Basketball Backboards in both Gym #1 and #2
  • Wipe down wall pads in Gym #1 and #2
  • Waxing of all floors in facility
  • Cleaning out of storage spaces
