American Red Cross Certification Classes
Training people on how to respond to and prepare for emergencies is the core mission of the American Red Cross. These certification classes teach new skills, and keep you knowledgeable and ready to respond in almost any emergency situation. American Red Cross certification is a way of demonstrating that you are prepared for a wide range of emergencies – in both your personal life and in activities such a lifeguarding and babysitting.
Recreation Center Programs must meet minimum participant requirements 3 days prior to start date of the course. Courses not meeting minimum requirements will be cancelled.
Spring Programs: Please complete and turn in an Aquatics Registration Form Spring-Summer 2019 at the time of registration (required for minors to be registered in any Aquatics or American Red Cross course.)
Refunds will only be given if notice is received 7 or more days prior to the start of course. No refund will be given with less than 7 days’ notice. Because of staffing requirements, fee will not be prorated for partial attendance.
Completing the lifeguarding course and gaining a valid certification does not guarantee employment with the City of Georgetown. In addition, while participants must be at least 15 years old to enroll in an American Red Cross Lifeguarding course, all applicants for employment must be at least 16 years old.
Aquatics staff are hired through the City of Georgetown’s online application process. Please visit georgetown.org/jobs to view open positions and apply.
