Junior Counselor Program

Please note that payment plans are not supported for online enrollment at this time. If registering online, payment in full will be required. If you would like to set up a payment plan, please register in person at the Georgetown Recreation Center, Georgetown Tennis Center or Parks and Recreation Administration Office.

Ages 14-16

The Junior Counselor Program has been developed to allow youth to gain valuable leadership skills necessary to be future camp counselors for Georgetown Parks and Recreation. Junior counselors will assist Camp Goodwater or Tennis Camp staff with daily Camp activities and serve as role models for campers.

In order to ensure the best possible experience for junior counselors, this is an application and selection process.  A limited number of junior counselors will be accepted each summer.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Ages 14-16
  • Previous experience as a camp participant
  • Must demonstrate a high level of responsibility, maturity, enthusiasm, and reliability
  • Commitment to a minimum of 2 one-week summer sessions

Applications are due by March 16, 2018. Selected candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview beginning March 21.

Summer Camps run from June 4-August 10. Each week is a new session and Junior Counselors must be able to make a commitment to at least two sessions.

Camp Registration

Once Junior Counselors are selected, they must register for weeks of Junior Counselor/Goodwater or Junior Counselor/Tennis Camp.

A 2018 Summer Camp Liability and Policy Agreement must be completed by Parent / Legal Guardian and is due at the time of registration.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. on March 26 (R) and March 27 (NR).

A $30 nonrefundable deposit is due at time of registration. The remaining balance for camp must be paid in full by the Monday one week prior to the start of camp (7 days in advance of scheduled attendance). If the balance is not paid in full by the Monday one week prior to camp, your child’s spot will be forfeited to the next child on the waitlist. You will lose your reservation and your $30 deposit.

Refunds, minus the $30 nonrefundable deposit, will only be given if notice is received 7 or more days prior to the start of camp. No refund will be given with less than 7 days’ notice. Complete refunds (including deposits) will only be given for departmental cancellations. Because of staffing requirements, fees will not be prorated for partial attendance. Tuition is based on a full week.
