National Parks and Recreation Month Photo Contest

Discover all the ways you can get active with Georgetown Parks and Recreation!

Playgrounds, rec centers, sports leagues, summer camps — these are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of parks and rec. But, parks and recreation is so much more than that. Parks and Recreation Month challenges you to explore the “undiscovered” roles of local parks and recreation, like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming; senior programs; innovative health and wellness opportunities; community celebrations; outdoor education; flood mitigation; maintenance; and more! Redefine how you think about your local parks and rec, and uncover a lifetime of discovery!

Since 1985, Americans have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote the importance of parks and recreation in health and wellness, conservation and social equity, and to recognize the thousands of park and recreation employees that maintain our nation’s local and community parks.
