National Parks and Recreation Month Photo Contest
Parks and Recreation services are vital for our community – from protecting open space and natural resources, to helping fight obesity, to providing activities and resources for all walks of life – Parks and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value parks and recreation brings to our community.
Since 1985, Americans have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote the importance of parks and recreation in health and wellness, conservation and social equity, and to recognize the thousands of park and recreation employees that maintain our nation’s local and community parks.
This July, we’re celebrating the power of play! Play is an important part of our mental well being, physical health and personal interactions. Parks are ideally suited as the places where all people can play — regardless of ability. Read more about Parks and Recreation Month at nrpa.org/july.
Get outside and play!
We encourage everyone to get out and visit Georgetown parks during July! Click here for a full listing of our parks.
Parks and Recreation Month Photo Contest
We’re celebrating Parks and Recreation Month with a photo contest encouraging people to show us why play is so important in their lives. Get out to our parks, trails, facilities or events, capture photos showing how you play in Georgetown, and upload them to Instagram using #GTXParksandRec. Remember to set your profile to public so we can see your post! The winner will be selected in early August and will win a family pool pass for the 2018 summer season.
Contest starts July 1 through July 31. Click here for 2017 contest rules and details.
