Tree Planting at San Gabriel Park

 Due to the forecast of rain Saturday, Feb. 26, the tree planting event in San Gabriel Park has been postponed to 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 26. Volunteers who signed up to participate have been notified.

All volunteer roles have been reserved. Please look for additional opportunities in the future!

 

Georgetown Parks & Recreation invites you to volunteer for a public tree planting in San Gabriel Park. We’re planting 30 trees and need your help!

Volunteers and staff will be planting native and adapted shade trees in and effort to beautify and add shading to a popular area of the park.

No planting experience is required to volunteer, and the holes for the 25-30 gallon trees will already be dug. Groups and youth are welcome. Volunteers younger than 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or adult, and two adults are required for every four children who sign up to volunteer.

What to do/bring:

  • Dress comfortably for the weather
  • Wear closed-toe shoes (please don’t wear flip-flops or Crocs)
  • Shovel, gloves, rake and/or hoe (if able)
  • Water bottle
