Outdoor Pool Rules

Lifeguards will enforce all rules for the safety of our visitors. Please be respectful of our staff.

Pool Rules

  • Children age 6 and younger must be accompanied in the water, within arm’s reach of an adult or guardian at least age 16 years of age or older. Parent or guardian must be actively monitoring the child.
  • Children age 7-11 must have an adult or guardian in the aquatics area at all times. These children are not to be dropped off and left in the aquatics area without visual supervision.
  • All swimmers are required to take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
  • Bathing suits are required to swim at all City of Georgetown pools. Appropriate swimming attire only. Denim, cut-off shorts, thong-style and/or revealing swimwear, sport bras, leggings, and/or non-swimwear are prohibited. Infants and toddlers are required to wear a swim diaper.
  • Food, gum and candy are prohibited in the pool. Food is allowed at designated picnic tables around the pool. Glass containers and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
  • Persons under the influence or in possession of alcoholic beverages or narcotics are strictly prohibited from entering or using the facility.
  • Running on deck is prohibited.
  • Swimmers are not allowed to run and dive over the edges of the pools. Swimmers are not allowed to jump from the water features and islands. Flips, diving or jumping from the deck backwards is prohibited.
  • Dangerous roughhousing such as riding on shoulders and excessive splashing is prohibited.
  • Playing or hanging on ladders is not allowed. They are for entering and exiting only.
  • Swimmers with open cuts or wounds are not permitted in the pool.
  • Lifejackets and primary flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved. Inflatable flotation devices such as water wings, inner tubes and infant boats are prohibited.
  • Skateboards, bicycles, skates, scooters and other wheeled devices are prohibited from use in the pool areas.
  • The City of Georgetown prohibits the practice of hyperventilating and extended breath-holding activities. Breath-holding games or breath holding training is strictly prohibited.
  • Mermaid tails and mono fins are not allowed unless under the direct supervision of our recognized groups and swim teams.
  • Swimming and/or facility use is not allowed without City of Georgetown lifeguards on duty. Swim teams, camps and groups are not allowed in the water without their coach, counselor, or supervisor on deck.
  • Animals are not allowed in the pool area with the exception of certified service animals per Texas Administrative Code. Emotional support animals are not allowed in the pool or pool area.
  • Diapers must be changed in the bathrooms. Guardian must wash their hands before returning to the pool.
  • Use of the pools or water features if ill with a contagious disease or diarrhea is prohibited.
  • Spitting or spouting of water, blowing the nose, or any other similar activities in the swimming pool is strictly prohibited.
  • Taking photos or recording videos without authorization is prohibited.
  • Staff reserves the right to enforce other rules as necessary to ensure the safety of our members and guests. Unacceptable behavior is grounds for being removed from the facility.

Slide Rules

  • Swimmers are not allowed to use the slide without lifeguards on duty.
  • Sliders must ride the slide feet first only.
  • Sliders must ride the slide one at a time.
  • Sliders must exit the plunge area immediately.
  • Sliders must not wear jewelry, goggles, toys, or lifejackets.
  • Sliders must be 13 years of age or younger.
  • Sliders must be competent swimmers in deep water.

Lap Lane Rules

  • Lap swimming is only allowed in designated lap lanes. Lap lanes must be used for lap swimming and exercise use only.
  • Swimmers must not sit or pull on lap lane ropes.
  • Swim and water exercise equipment is for exercise use only and are not to be used as toys or flotation devices.
  • Lap swimmers must be prepared to share a lane.
  • Transition lane may be used for water walking.

Diving Board Rules

  • Only one person at a time on the diving board. Divers may not wait on the ladder.
  • Diver should wait until the diving well is completely cleared of people before diving.
  • Diver must be a confident swimmer. Divers may be required to complete a swim test to prove their swimming ability.
  • Only one bounce on the diving board.
  • Dive or jump straight out from the diving board. Jumping off the board backwards and gainer flips are prohibited.
  • Diver must immediately exit to the nearest ladder or wall.
  • Goggles, ear plugs, and other objects may not be worn or held by persons using the diving board.
  • Swimmers cannot swim in areas roped off for diving.

Organization or Agency Pool Rental Rules

  • Organizations or agencies (e.g. day cares, camps and teams) are not allowed entry without prior reservation with the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Swimming and/or facility use is not allowed without Georgetown Parks and Recreation lifeguards on duty. Swim teams, camps and groups are not allowed in the water without their coach, counselor, or supervisor on deck.
  • No group may claim any particular area of the pool or pool area as to exclude others without prior reservation.
  • Daycare group participants must be at least 6 years of age or older.
  • Daycare groups must have counselors or chaperones accompany the children in the water at a ratio of 1 counselor per 7 participants.
  • All organization rentals must adhere to Texas HB59 policy, which became effective September 1, 2023.
  • Any organization or agency must fill out a pool rental request to use any City of Georgetown pool during normal operating hours. These organization/agency requests must be made at least two weeks in advance to ensure proper staffing. This request does not guarantee a reservation. Only one organization/agency may visit a pool at a time.
  • Individuals or private parties of 10 or more can fill out a pool rental request to use any City of Georgetown pool during normal operating hours. These pool rental requests must be made at least two weeks in advance to ensure proper staffing. This request does not guarantee a reservation.

Splash Pad Rules

  • Animals are not allowed in the splash pad with the exception of certified service animals per Texas Administrative Code. Emotional support animals are not allowed in the splash pad.
  • Diapers must be changed in the bathrooms. Guardian must wash their hands before returning to the pool.
  • Use of the pools or water features if ill with a contagious disease or diarrhea is prohibited.
  • Do not drink water from the water feature.
