2024 Spring Break Adventure Camp

Join us for this adventure camp, which includes day camp adventures plus a 3 day 2 night overnight adventure to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. Day adventures include caving at Whirlpool Cave and whitewater kayaking on a Texas Hill Country River. On Wednesday, we’ll head to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge for some camping, rock climbing, and rappelling. Picture buffalo and longhorns grazing on open fields, prairie dogs scurrying for their holes, elk bugling in the distance, and sunsets with no ends. The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is not only home to many different types of wildlife, but it also offers some of the finest rock climbing in the southern U.S.
We will provide all of the technical gear including caving gear, rock climbing gear, kayaks, lifejackets, paddles, tents, sleeping bags and more. We will also provide daily snacks and meals while we are camping. Please complete the Liability Waiver for your child on your account. Your child will need to bring a sack lunch and personal gear for the day trips, and money for 2 meals on the overnight. (about $30).
Parents: Your child will have the opportunity to observe and practice good outdoor judgment and decision making skills. Please note the camp is physically and mentally demanding. Please assess your child’s ability and desire before signing them up. There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 7:00-8:00pm at the Parks Administration Building (1101 N College St.). We will discuss logistics and the youth will be fitted for technical gear.

Camp Fees, Payments, and Registration/Withdrawal Information

Registration opens at 8:00 am on Thursday, February 1 and is limited to 11 participants.

Camper Equipment
The adventure program will provide technical equipment necessary for adventure activities. Registration fees include afternoon snacks, camping fees, and meals while camping.

Staff Leadership
Adventure Camps and trips will be conducted by trained staff with experience in outdoor skills and camper supervision.
