Outdoor Pool Rules
General Rules (posted at all pools)
Lifeguards will enforce all rules for the safety of our visitors. Please be respectful of our staff.
- Children ages 0-9 years must be accompanied to the pool by a Chaperone.
- Chaperone must be at least 16 years of age.
- Chaperone of children ages 0-6 years must be in a bathing suit and be actively participating in the water with their children at all times.
- Chaperone of children ages 7-9 years must remain in the Aquatic Area at all times.
- All swimmers are required to take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
- Attire:
- Bathing suits are required at ALL City of Georgetown pools (nylon lycra suits for females and swim trunks for males).
- Triathlon attire is allowed, permitted that it is swim appropriate.
- Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, or metal ornaments is not permitted.
- Gym shorts / basketball shorts, denim, cut-offs are not permitted.
- Cotton t-shirts, cover-ups are not allowed in the pool. Swim shirts and rashguards are fine.
- Lifeguard gear is not permitted.
- Swim diapers are required for young children. Regular diapers are prohibited in the pool. Swim diapers are available for purchase if needed.
- Food, gum and candy are prohibited in the pool area. No glass containers.
- No running, diving, flips or horse play of any kind.
- U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation devices only. No water wings or inner tubes allowed.
- Snorkels and fins must be used in lap lanes only. Masks cannot cover the nose.
- Lap Swim Etiquette:
- Lap swimming is only allowed in designated lap lanes.
- Everyone MUST be prepared to share a lane.
- Circle swim at all times if multiple people are in a lane (swim down on the right side of the lane , swim back on the left side of the lane). If someone touches your feet, let him/her pass you.
- No hanging, sitting, or pulling on lane lines.
- Breath-holding games or breath holding training is not permitted.
- No animals allowed in the pool area with the exception of service animals.
- Anyone having open cuts, wounds, etc. is not permitted in the pool.
- All tobacco and alcohol products are prohibited.
- The City of Georgetown is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- An admission fee or membership is required to swim prior to or after swim lessons, water aerobics, or scheduled pool parties.
- Staff reserves the right to stop other behaviors / actions as necessary to ensure the safety of our users. Unacceptable behavior is grounds for immediate dismissal from the facility.
Recreation Center Outdoor Play Pool Rules
- All General Rules apply.
- Slides are for ages 12 & under only.
- Slide feet-first and on your bottom.
- No wearing a lifejacket or goggles when going down slides.
- Must be able to swim from the bottom of the slide to the ladder.
- No parents/guardians in the catch pool.
- No swimming in the catch pool.
- No sitting/climbing on the lady bug or turtle.
- Do not spray lifeguards with the purple and orange sprayers.
- Do not jump from middle fountain.
- No balls.
Williams Drive Pool Rules
- All General Rules apply.
- Must be able to swim unassisted to use diving board.
- No free swim allowed in diving well while boards are being used.
- No life jackets or swim aides allowed when using boards.
- One person on the board at a time, and one bounce on the board each time.
- Wait for previous diver to reach ladder and exit before diving.
- Dive/jump off end of board only (straight off).Swim directly to ladder and exit.
- No unsafe diving/jumping, running, repeated bouncing, games, goggles, masks or fins.
- Use caution when diving.
