History
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Cemetery is operated by the City of Georgetown and is located behind Southwestern University.
Appointments
Inquiries for the cemetery regarding records, sales or other information may be made by calling the Parks and Recreation office at 512-930-3595 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday or via the Contact Us form.
Fees
Cemetery Lot, Columbarium Niche and Scatter Garden Fees

Marking Fees
A $100 Marking Fee will be charged for each opening/closing: of a lot or niche, Headstone Setting, or Installation of Curbing. The Marking Fee is for marking the location of the lot or niche only.
Fee Information
Cemetery Lot, Columbarium Niche, and Scatter Garden Fees will be collected at the time the lot, niche, or request for scattering, is purchased.
Columbarium Niche engraving for the inscription plate is a separate fee, which are current market rates, and are collected by the local approved vendor.
Additional Fees will be collected at time the services are rendered. All fees must be paid in full before services can be performed.

Cemetery Tree Planting
In an effort to give the remaining portion of the cemetery a more uniform and visually appealing appearance, the City of Georgetown planted 65 large shade trees within the isles between the cemetery plots in the 2007 addition.
In the past, the City had not done uniform large scale tree plantings at the cemetery. As a result many trees have been planted by citizens within the bounds of the individual plots. Unfortunately, overcrowding and blocking of headstones have become problems as these trees have matured. Additionally, planted non-natives have become a maintenance problem.
To help us keep the cemetery looking its best, please:
- Do not plant shade trees. The shade trees provided by the City will be sufficient for shade production without the potential for overcrowding.
- Consider planting small ornamental trees like crape myrtle, red buds, chitalpa, possumhaw holly, yaupon holly, mountain laurel, Mexican plum, and dessert willow as they are good choices with seasonal interest.
- Do not plant arborvitaes, pine trees, ligustrums, bald cypress, or bradford pears as these trees have been the most difficult to maintain.
- The City is not concerned with the types of shrubs or flowers planted because they will not create long term maintenance challenges.
- Any plantings you do must be inside your plot boundary.
